Condi Firebrand Guide
Welcome to our Condi Firebrand Guide for Guildwars 2. Here you will learn everything you need to know about playing a Condi Firebrand in a raid environment.
- High personal DPS
- Can provide blocks (aegis) and ~20% uptime on quickness
- Very easy to play
- Can give minor heals if needed at the cost of DPS
- Has access to several boons (Swiftness, Regeneration, Protection, Resistance etc.) at the cost of DPS
- Limited access to CC
- Relies on sharing Ashes of the Just to nearby allies (which does not stack)
- Very little cleave
3. Current Viability
With Path of Fire, Guardian finally got a powerful condition based build.
After some bug fixes, and a significant nerf to legendary lore, Firebrand reached a more “normalised” level of strength. With about 38k DPS on the golem, Firebrand is on the higher end of the DPS specs. On top of the good damage, Firebrand is also capable of providing around 20% quickness uptime to its subgroup, as a byproduct of performing its rotation. Which can cover quickness downtimes that sometimes occur in fights like matthias, where the chrono can get multiple mechanics in a row, preventing them from giving buffs.
On top of that, Firebrand is capable of providing blocks with and several other boons via its tomes.
Unfortunately not everything is perfect. A lot of the damage of Firebrand depends on allies hitting the boss. If adds got pulled into the boss and your “Ashes of the Just” hit those adds instead of the boss, you will lose quite some damage. Also Firebrand doesn’t bring much CC to the group, which in turn means, other people have to do more to break the boss.
