1. Strengths

  • Easy to play
  • Strong heals
  • Gives Alacrity & Assassin’s Presence

2. Disadvantages

  • Low personal dps
  • Only really useful on Deimos 

3. Current Viability

While the Healing Revenant is a solid healing class overall, the lack strong offensive buffs (compared to druid) and the amount of low pressure fights in raids doesn’t allow the Healing Revenant to have a spot in a Meta composition except on Deimos.
Healing Revenant is still the strongest class for the Hand Kiting role since it can provide Alacrity and a ferocity boost to the team via  which also received a buff in the August 8th balance patch 
Unfortunately the energy costs to maintain permanent alacrity are way to high to even enable other roles for this class.

If your group is not going for speedkills, healing rev is a good and strong alternative for a healing druid.
